Since opening in November in the space formerly occupied by 504 Bar and Grill, patrons have enjoyed Saturday and Sunday brunch, big games and fun times.

Charlie McGuiness and Kenny Huff opened the restaurant at 2121 Greenville Ave. McGuiness has worked on Greenville Avenue for more than 30 years, opening the Original Dodie’s.

Huff is an avid golfer who was raised in Lakewood and is excited to be back in the area.

With former 504 chef Lupe Guevara at the helm, Avenue Sports Grill doesn’t serve average bar food. The food is made fresh daily with an abundance of flavors. The menu includes a variety of dishes from hamburgers and fish to shrimp scampi. The Ruben sandwich, French dip, street tacos and onion rings are some of the most popular items.

The chef is accommodating and will customize orders, while also providing vegetarian dishes, such as pasta primavera and savory salads.

The interior reflects the hip and fresh vibe of Lower Greenville, while also incorporating an open-air atmosphere with sliding bay doors.

“With a casual relaxed atmosphere, great drinks, lunch specials, live music and the best playlist in town, it’s a great hangout,” Huff said. “We look forward to you coming by so we can catch up with our neighbors.”
