Mesero says “Adios” to Henderson
Mesero closed abruptly last weekend after they were unable to come to an acceptable deal for their lease, Dallas Eater reports.
The swanky Mexican restaurant lasted five years at the Henderson Avenue location that was Cuba Libre for more than 10 years. Eater reported that a note posted on the door of the restaurant read, “Despite ongoing efforts to achieve a reasonable lease, it is with a heavy heart that we must close our Henderson location after five years.”
Like many other entertainment districts in the neighborhood, Henderson is no stranger to turnover. Favorites such as Sissy’s, Victor Tangos and Hibiscus have all shuttered along the same few blocks over the past couple years.
If you enjoyed Mesero, you can hop across Central Expressway to Mr. Mesero, a more laid back vibe from the same restaurateur, Mico Rodriguez, who founded and then left the group that owns Mi Cocina and Taco Diner.
Rusty –> R –> Rusty
Head north on Greenville Avenue, and you may notice that what used to be Rusty Taco is now Rusty Taco again. When Buffalo Wild Wings purchased Rusty Taco in 2015, it became R Taco, but the restaurant has now returned to its original name.
Rusty Fenton started the restaurant in 2010, and it grew from the East Dallas location to 27 locations nationwide. To celebrate its return to Rusty, neighbors can head to the founding location at 4802 Greenville Avenue on Saturday, September 8, from 6-9 p.m. for $2 tacos and live music from the Jayson Bales band. All proceeds will benefit the North Texas Food Bank.
“In our hearts, we’ve always been Rusty Taco, so we decided to go back to our roots and continue Rusty’s legacy of approachable, delicious food with the original name,” said Tim Casey, Brand Head of Rusty Taco via media release.Â
