Attractions this year will include the police department’s Bike Patrol, Bomb Squad, Tactical Unit, Mounted Unit and Canine Unit; police motorcycles squad cars and a helicopter; a fire truck; a fire house; and an ambulance.

Local crime watches, volunteers in patrol groups, area hospitals, and other safety-oriented organizations will also give presentations.

The fair is sponsored by Northeast Organized Neighbors (NEON), a non-profit citizens group focused on reducing crime and combating community deterioration and juvenile delinquency.

NEON unites neighborhood crime watches, encouraging them to work together, and tries to enhance the relationships between these crime watches and the police. It also sponsors a sports league that provides role models and support for at-risk youth.

Members of its board of directors are President Larry Jones, Vice President Patty Smith, Secretary Cindy Barrett and Treasurer JJ Pair.
