If you’ve been driving by the corner of Skillman and Lovers anytime during the last few months, you know the apartments that once stood on that corner have now been leveled.

In their place, Behringer Harvard plans to build roughly 150 townhomes, fully-gated with individual front entrances and walk-up front stoops, "providing a Georgian-style traditional neighborhood feel." According to the company, these will be rental units, not for-sale units, of approximately 1,350 square feet on average.

Mark Alferi, Behringer Harvard’s senior vice-president of real estate, says the site "is particularly attractive because of its proximity to Downtown, Uptown and the Park Cities areas … Our location at the intersection of Lovers Lane and Skillman Avenue is ideally positioned for future residents to take full advantage of the area’s dramatic change."

Construction is expected to begin sometime this fall, and should be completed in early 2010. A Greystar sign recently popped up on the property, noting that the "luxury townhomes" would be ready in spring 2009, which means the company will likely start renting before construction is complete.
