Local resident Bob Munro, owner of Sacred Pause photography, has traveled the world and captured some breathtaking photographs along the way. Much of his work includes what Munro calls “spiritual landscapes” — which translates to some amazing scenic photography. According to Munro, “lessons in fierce landscapes, desert silence, pacific fog, the stillness of redwoods, mountaintop prayer, even the glow of my backyard garden angel — these spiritual landscapes of nature provided me solace.” Have you invested in your 2010 calendar yet? Munro’s 2010 calendar features 13 Sacred Pause images paired with inspirational passages and the story behind each image. Visit sacredpause.com for price information.

Lakewood residents Linda Betancourt and Claudette Head started Call Claudette! (callclaudet.com) about a year and a half ago, to give people a one stop shop for all their home repairs and maintenance. Their motto is “pick up the phone to fix up your home.” Services include home repairs, maintenance and seasonal check-ups to keep things running in tip top shape. Call Claudette! works with many East Dallas contractors (and they’re always looking for more), who are often found via recommendations. Betancourt and Head then test the contractors in their own homes, plus get references and check backgrounds. Call 214.693.5959 for more information.

Local resident and certified personal trainer Kimberly Moore started Custom Fitness in 1994. Moore provides personal training outdoors in parks and at people’s homes. You no longer have the “I don’t want to pay a gym membership fee” or “I’m too out of shape to keep up in class” excuses — Moore will meet you where you are, literally and physiologically. Moore’s services include providing dietary guidance and designing personal cardiovascular, strength and flexibility programs, and water exercise and arthritis exercise programs. Moore even develops healthy lifestyle presentations for corporations and non-profit groups. Want to start off slow? Moore just started “Tone up in 12,” a 12-minute strength training workout you can do at home, consisting of 12 easy-to-learn exercises targeting each major muscle group.
