As a former Little League parent, and as someone who loves baseball, I can tell you there is nothing more exciting than watching little kids lined up on opening day for their first baseball game. For years in our part of town, those games have taken place at Bethel Lutheran Church, Northwest Highway and Jupiter. This year, Dallas Little League and the City of Dallas will be opening three additional youth baseball fields at Winfrey Point, overlooking White Rock Lake and the Dallas skyline. That way, even if your team is taking a beating, you at least have a pleasant place to daydream. Anyway, you can’t register online for Little League; instead you have to stop by one of these four Dallas rec centers: Ridgewood, 6818 Fisher; Samuell-Grand, 6200 E. Grand; Harry Stone, 2403 Millmar; or Lake Highlands, 9940 White Rock Trail. Season costs range from $80-$110 per child for everything from t-ball and coach pitch to kid pitch. Contact dallaslittleleague10@yahoo.com with questions. The season begins in early April.
