New Yorkers will light the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree tonight to kickoff the yuletide season. Here in East Dallas, in the same vain, we will Light Up Lakewood—only ours is on Friday evening from 6-9.

Organizers note that thanks to Lakewood Neighborhood Association, our formerly crooked Christmas tree is straight and gorgeous this year. Since it cost about $2100 to fix it, they will be accepting donations at the event. LUL includes food, entertainment and a merry opportunity to mingle with your neighbors and friends.

And, this just in: the Lakewood store will have s’mores, gumbo and Lakewood Chili Pie for sale on the patio (“heaters will be involved,” organizers promise). You could hit WF for dinner and then head on over to the lighting of the tree.

See you there!
