Lakewood resident and ORIX employee Elizabeth Daane (left) was badly injured by a falling tree Thanksgiving morning.
A freak accident happened in Lakewood on Thanksgiving morning when a tree fell on top of 44-year-old attorney and mother of two Elizabeth Daane, who lives on Pasadena near West Shore. She was feeding the neighbor’s cats when a strong gust of wind toppled the tree. Reportedly, Daane pushed her two children to safety before she was pinned.
A relative has set up a Caringbridge website to keep friends posted on Daane’s situation. According to postings, “Elizabeth sustained a bad break in her lower vertebrae and was left without feeling from her waist down. She underwent reconstructive surgery (Friday) and is now in recovery.” Her children were unharmed.
Daane is general counsel of ORIX USA — in fact, we ran a photo last Christmastime of Daane and peers from ORIX after they contributed to one of the North Texas Food Bank’s largest donations of the season. She is the woman on the far left.
