The spot is located next to Hypnotic Donuts on Garland Road.

Adam and Mark Lowes, the owners of the local coffee chain, hail from Australia and try to emulate the feeling of their native country in the shops.

The store describes itself on its website as “a cheeky Australian take on the classic Italian neighborhood espresso bar. Buzzing with energy and speed but balanced by customer service that is as breezy and warm as the beaches back home.”

They don’t offer WiFi in store, encouraging customers to connect and talk with other people, rather than focusing on their devices.

LDU offers all the classic coffee drinks — lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites, mochas, cortados and of course, espressos — as well as a variety of teas. Food options include toasted banana bread, cinnamon swirl loaves and sandwiches like the sunbeam me up, Scotty grilled sandwich, which includes roasted sweet potato, candied pecans, lime, cilantro and feta.

LDU’s newest location is at 9005 Garland Road. It’s open 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
