When Jamise Fisher launched Cowgirl Cool last year, she brought together two things she knows: fashion and riding horses. Through Cowgirl Cool (or cowgirlcool.com), Fisher sells Western fashion to women who ride in rodeos and to women who want to look like they ride in rodeos. “There’s a cowgirl mystique in Texas,” Fisher says, adding that women want a few pieces in their closet to reflect that style. Her merchandise includes tank tops bearing the phrase “Rope This,” belts lined with sparkling stones, and even tack with a little bling. Retail is nothing new to Fisher. As a child she began helping her parents, Wayne and Kay Clifton, with their store, Clifton Fashions, and continued until it closed in 1995. She also owned neighborhood salon Nails by Jamise for many years. Her horse riding days began at the age of 10, and she competed in barrel racing as a teenager on the Skyline High School rodeo team because Woodrow Wilson didn’t have one. Fisher still rides and competes today. “It’s just all worked,” Fisher says. “(Cowgirl Cool has) been a perfect fit.”
