It’s a drop in the bucket compared to the $1.1 billion the Insurance Council of Texas estimates the June 13 hailstorm in our neighborhood will cost. But Wayne Roden of the Lakewood Theater says it will cost $26,000 just to fix the theater’s busted marquee.
“I have personal property insurance and the landlord has building insurance,” he says. “I’m still negotiating with them both but am not very optimistic.”
Roden says the maintenance and electricity to keep the tower lit every night costs over $1,000 a month.
He is soliciting donations online to help with the repairs.
