Your date.

Well, your date to Mutts Canine Cantina anyways. A couple of our Lakewood neighbors have put their heads together and come up with a very cool concept for dog lovers — a full-service restaurant and bar that also features a private, maintained dog park. Yes please. I’ll raise a paw to that.

Mutts is right across Highway 75 from us in Uptown at 2889 Cityplace West Blvd., and it’s opening tomorrow, June 19.

The restaurant will serve burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, shakes, beer, wine and more during lunch and dinner hours. Plus, it will also serve coffee, breakfast tacos, yogurt parfait and donuts for breakfast.

The only beef used will be naturally raised, grass-fed, with no hormones or antibiotics from Harris Farms with Nathan’s Famous 100% beef franks served as well.  Henry’s Ice Cream will provide a “specially made for Mutts” frozen custard, while Hypnotic Donuts will provide all of the morning donuts (vegan options available on Mondays and Tuesdays). The draft beer hails from Dallas-based breweries and all non-draft beers will be served in 100 percent recyclable aluminum cans.  All disposable products will be 100 percent biodegradable plant products, and the building is an energy efficient “green” building.

Your pup can use the dog park adjacent to the restaurant with the purchase of a membership or a one-time pass. Also, Mutts will be a dog-friendly restaurant with outdoor seating available for up to 200 guests.
