Peter Salaverry becomes excited talking about ways to “wrap” stuff, but what he’s talking about doesn’t have anything to do with holiday presents. Instead, he and his company, Skinz Wraps, have been responsible for some of the biggest building and vehicle wrap projects in Dallas — literally making vehicles and buildings huge promotional objects.

His latest project, though, can only be seen from the air.

More specifically, you’re only likely to see it from a Southwest Airlines jet heading to and from Love Field and flying over the Dallas Mavericks Deep Ellum offices, 2909 Taylor Street at South Malcolm X Boulevard.

There, on the top of a building that features a huge likeness of Mavs star Dirk Nowitzki on the wall facing Malcolm X is a 70-by-70-foot full-color likeness of the Mavs logo adhered by Salaverry and his crew to the building’s corrugated steel roof.

In additional to finding the right combination of materials to withstand the Texas heat, Salaverry said he used a bunch of mathematics (pay attention in school, kids) to make sure the logo would look like a logo from the sky, despite the up-and-down feature of the corrugated roof.

Salaverry hired a mini drone to shoot video of the logo installation. And if you want to see some of his other work, visit the Skinz Facebook page or website to see pictures of the helicopter wrapped for the currently showing “Annie” movie starring Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx, as well as a number of other “wrap” projects.

Notably missing from the page is a picture of the wrap Skinz did for our Advocate Mini Cooper, which you’ll see on the road throughout the neighborhood.
