After months of waiting, the new La Casita Coffee in Deep Ellum finally has an opening date.
The coffee shop is expected to open its Continental Gin Building location in a week, by Wednesday, Dec. 10, according to The Dallas Morning News. There, drinks and pastries will be served, but not brunch.
We reported on this back in January, but at the time, we were expecting a spring opening. Here’s what we said in that story: “Built in 1888 as the largest manufacturer of cotton gins in the world, the historic (Continental Gin Building) is now home to flex work/office spaces, restaurants and outdoor patio areas. Serving both coffee and bakery items, the new La Casita location will be replacing CGB Coffee and operating in the mixed-use building’s lobby space.”
La Casita is owned by Maricsa Trejo, a James Beard nominated-pastry chef. According to Facebook, Trejo also competed on Next Level Baker, featuring Gordon Ramsay, which is expected to premiere on FOX this week.
La Casita has a handful of concepts in the Metroplex, including inside Half Price Books on Northwest Highway.
