The restaurant from Miami-based Groot Hospitality will be located at The Epic mixed-use development.

It also represents the first concept for Groot Hospitality outside South Florida, according to a news release.

Wagyu beef offerings sourced from Texas and Szechuan Texas quail made with local game are specific to the Deep Ellum location.

In Miami, favorite dishes include Peking duck, salmon tacos, miso Chilean seabass skewers and plant-based kung pao chicken. There’s also a full sushi bar.

New York firm ICRAVE designed the two-story space, which copies some elements from the Miami restaurant, including the illuminated “bamboo” cutout columns and duck display windows.

Komodo is located at 2550 Pacific Ave. Hours will be 5-10 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday, 5-11 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 5-9 p.m. Sunday. The lounge is open 10 p.m.-2 a.m. Friday-Saturday, and happy hour is 4-7 p.m.

La Neta Cocina y Lounge also opened this year at The Epic. Mark Wahlberg attended the grand opening of the restaurant, which started in Las Vegas.
