The Junius Heights Historic District (JHHD) neighborhood association will begin planting trees across 15 locations in the district tomorrow, Jan. 31.
JHHD approved a multi-generational initiative called Trees for Tomorrow in September of 2024. The initiative would allow homeowners to receive trees ranging from 10 to 12-feet tall.
With 15 applications receiving approval from the board, the neighborhood will now be receiving Chinquapin and Red Oak trees, Autumn Blaze Maple, Chinese Pistache and Cedar Elm trees.
“Urban tree canopy plays a critical role in the health of all residents,” JHHD President Noel. J. Aveton said. “It is important to maintain and plant/establish new trees to ensure the quality of life for future generations.”
