Students at J.L. Long Middle School placed in the top 10 at a recent math and science competition.
Long kids and other Dallas ISD middle-schoolers participated in the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association state competition in San Antonio on April 2.
One team from Long placed eighth in the sweepstakes category in the 5A division.
Sixth-grader Graham Webb placed fifth in the science category. The science test for middle-school students covers earth and life science.
Seventh-grader Georgia Stabenow placed seventh in the number sense category. The number sense test is a 10-minute, 80-question mental math test covering all middle school courses. Shortcuts need to be developed and practiced to finish the test.
