J.L. Long Middle School
The clock is ticking for the students at J. L. Long Middle School.
They have until May 29 to raise $165,000 to remodel the boys’ and girls’ locker rooms if they want principal Danielle Petters and athletic director Jennifer Garcia, who we wrote about earlier this month, to dye their hair blue and pink, respectively, on the last day of school.
The school was built in 1933 and updated in 1959. The air conditioning system and boiler were revamped in 2013, but the locker rooms are still old-school and in need of a remodel.
“Our goal is to provide all of our students with opportunities to work really hard at something they love,” Petters explains.
