EatZi’s provides European-market style meals.

With all the recent activity at the Lakewood shopping center at Gaston and Abrams, there has been no lack of rumors flying around of late. After Lincoln Property Co. bought a large portion of the strip in 2011, many have been curious about what changes will inevitably take place in the landmark shopping center.

Some rumors come, others go, but the name eatZi’s Market & Bakery seems to be on everyone’s lips these days. So is there any truth to the idle talk?

Well, there just might be.

Adam Romo, the CEO of eatZi’s, says he’s been looking for a place in Lakewood and has even checked into one of the spaces at the Gaston and Abrams shopping center.

“We would love to be in Lakewood,” he says. “I’ve been looking in the area for a while. It’s a great area.”

The biggest challenge, of course, is parking. Because of the nature of the company — which is European-market style where customers pick up ready-made meals to take home — ample parking is a must, and something the Lakewood Shopping Center just doesn’t offer.

Romo says he hasn’t found anything in Lakewood that suits his needs, but he’s still looking. If the ever-growing parking issue is ever solved at Gaston and Abrams, who knows, we just might see an eatZi’s in our neighborhood!
