Prepare for invasion — but not the alien kind. Invasion, a new indie restaurant specializing in fast, gourmet-quality food, plans to open in Old East Dallas this spring.

Owner and chef Airric Heidelberg is partnering with the owners of Gallo Nero, an Italian restaurant on Greenville Avenue, to open the restaurant. It will open in the next few weeks on North Haskell Avenue between Main Street and Gaston Avenue, CultureMap reported.

“The name of the restaurant refers to an invasion of your taste buds,” Heidelberg told the publication. “It’s gourmet food delivered fast, fresh and healthy with quality ingredients.”

The menu includes wings, fried rice bowls, shrimp and five-cheese mac and cheese. The signature item is the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with spicy mayo and coleslaw.

The restaurant will have late-night hours, especially on weekends, when it will stay open until 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

“It seems like the only restaurants open late in Dallas serve pizza and tacos,” Heidelberg told CultureMap. “It’s hard to find good quality food, and we want to fill that need.”

The space, which was previously Sykamore Vegan House, has been remodeled with a fresh coat of white paint embellished with black letters that spell “Invasion,” the publication reported. The restaurant is one of the few in an isolated neighborhood with limited parking. But Heidelberg said there’s parking in the back of the building.

Heidelberg first learned to cook from his grandparents before studying under four-star chefs.
