M streets neighbor and U.S. Rep Colin Allred introduced a bipartisan resolution honoring the life of Holocaust survivor and longtime Dallas resident Jack Repp, who was a member of Temple Emanu-El and Temple Shearith Israel before he died Jan. 14. Repp survived a labor camp in Radom and imprisonment in the Auschwitz and Dachau concentration camps.

“Repp spent many years sharing his life story with North Texans and people from across the world in hopes that future generations would learn from the past,” according to a news release from Allred’s office. “He spoke to thousands of people at museums, public schools, private schools, universities and military bases and remained an active part of the Jewish community.”

“Jack Repp’s life is one of inspiration, perseverance and moral courage,” Allred said. “Out of the darkness, he found light. We are so proud that he called Dallas his home for so many years and was brave enough to share his story with so many people over the course of his life. I am honored to lead this resolution along with my fellow Texans to celebrate the life of Mr. Jack Repp and enshrine his memory.”
