Police have charged a 40-year-old man with capital murder in connection to the shooting that left two dead Friday at an East Dallas apartment complex.
Authorities identified the shooter as Leo Ted Pintor. He is accused of slaying Fredi Mercado and Urania De Jesus at the Coronado Apartments.
Police arrived at the scene just before 3:15 a.m. in response to an active shooter call at the apartment complex. About 20 hours later, Pintor was taken into custody.

Witness at the scene told investigators they saw the gunman kick down the door prior to shots being fired, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. They described the clothing the suspect was wearing, and police confirmed that it matched what Pintor was wearing at the time of his arrest.
Family members told detectives that after the shooting, Pintor contacted them, saying he had “messed up” and asking them to take care of his children.
De Jesus and Pintor were divorcing, and De Jesus had filed a protective order against her ex-husband, the affidavit states. Records show Pintor had a history of family violence and was known to have had a gun.
After his arrest, Pintor was apparently uncooperative. He remained in the Dallas County jail Monday on $1 million bond.
