It probably isn’t surprising that Kohl’s, the discount department store chain, is opening at 4 a.m. on the day after Thanksgiving, the traditional start of the Christmas shopping season. But NorthPark opening at 5:30?
Yet that’s the word from the mall’s PR people, who fired off an email this afternoon:
• A free cup of coffee and pastry at La Madeleine for the first 200 people who show up 90 minutes before the sun rises.
• Macy’s (and how annoying is it to have to write that instead of Sanger-Harris?) will open at 6 a.m.
• The rest of the stores will open between 7 and 10 a.m.; the mall’s normal Friday opening time is 10.
Anyone who goes to NorthPark (or Kohl’s or anywhere else that is opening early) is more than welcome to share their experience with us via email. I will be asleep, of course, no matter how unpatriotic it seems.
