I’m loving the creative incentives that restaurants and hotels have been coming up with lately.
First, Central 214 started offering a 14 percent discount to anyone living in the 75214 zip code. (That one lasts through the end of the year, so all you Lakewood-types, take advantage. You do have to show a valid driver’s license, however, so Forest Hills or M Streets folk, either find a Lakewood buddy or you’re out of luck.)
The most recent offer comes from Hotel Palomar: Anyone who can Hacky Sack for one minute upon arrival will receive half off every night of his or her stay. They’re even allowing a practice round. It’s a bit risky — if you fail, you pay full price — but any children of the ’90s should be able to kick their way to a deal. The offer is good through the end of the year, but must be booked by Sept. 15.
