Old East Dallas has suffered a spate of robberies over the last couple of weeks, and the police need the public’s help identifying the culprits.

The Dallas Observer reports that thieves have committed 10 robberies targeting older Hispanic men between the ages of 58 and 71 near Columbia, Fitzhugh and Worth in Old East Dallas. Assistant Chief Thomas Castro said the suspects were threatening victims with a gun before taking their property. Two have been shot during the altercations, though the injuries weren’t life threatening.

Castro said the crimes are similar in nature but could not confirm a connection between them. Victims have had conflicting descriptions on the number of suspects, their physical description and getaway vehicles.

“Several of these robberies occurred on a busy street, and we’re encouraging anyone who may have seen or witnessed any of these offenses to come forward,” Castro said at the announcement. Read the Observer story here.
