We told you weeks ago about the Cuban cafe opening in the former Bonnie Ruth’s spot in Casa Linda.

Owners promise “real Cuban cuisine” — chicken with yellow arborio rice cooked on sofrito sauce; shredded flank steak simmered in special Havana’s criollo sauce; marinaded pork leg with house made cuban mojo; Cuban-style burgers made with lean ground beef, chorizo and pork; custards; crema catalana — that sort of thing, according to us. And the food will be moderately priced: $8-$10 for lunch. $12 or so for dinner.

Owner Ernesto Velez says they were “very busy. too busy” yesterday, and that he is ready for a crowd today when they open at 11 a.m.

1152 Buckner/ 214.680.9545/ Mon.-Sat. 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Stay tuned for more news about Casa Linda plaza.
