Hari Mari, a Dallas-based retailer founded by Lakewood neighbors, recently donated hundreds of pairs of flip flops to Guatemalans.
Lila and Jeremy Stewart, the company co-founders, were married in Guatemala. They decided to return to the country and help out people in need.
Hari Mari participates in so-called “flop drops” each year, where they visit kids at hospitals and surprise them with shoes. But this year, they wanted to reach an international crowd, so they partnered with Serve Hope International to visit families in the village of San Andrés, Ixtapa.
“Jeremy and I got married in Antigua, Guatemala, so to be able to go back, nearly 15 years later with our two kids, parents and employees for what was an incredible day giving out Hari Maris, is something I’ll never forget,” Lila Stewart says. “We also had our daughter do the voice over for this video, which makes it all the more special for us. We hope to make this a long-lasting tradition.”
