Several East Dallas organizations are having events to raise funds and celebrate fall and Halloween this year.

East Dallas GamesĀ 

Neighbors from Junius Heights, Peak’s Addition and Munger Place are facing off in East Dallas Games at 11 a.m. at Buckner Park on Oct. 15.

They’ll be playing cornhole, giant jenga, egg relays, sack races, second relay, three-legged races, hula-hooping, water-balloon toss, spinning baseball bats and tug-of-war.

Lakewood Elementary-Geneva Heights Elementary fall festival

Two neighborhood elementary schools are collaborating on a fall festival, a fundraiser for both schools.

The event will include carnival rides, games, performances and a silent auction. Food trucks will be selling food and drinks.

It’s free for adults and kids under 3 years old. Wristbands for kids over 3 years old cost $10, and they give access to unlimited rides, games and cake walk tries.

The festival will be 2-6 p.m. Oct. 15 at Lakewood Elementary.

Eighth-annual Woodrowfest

The Exchange Club of East Dallas is holding the eighth-annual golf tournament and afterparty fundraiser to support Woodrow Wilson High School students.

The shotgun-start golf tournament begins at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at Stevens Park Golf Course, and golfers will receive admission to the afterparty. Door prizes will be delivered to winners on the course.

Awards for first place, second place, third place, closest to pin and longest drive will be given at the afterparty, which will be held at Lee Harvey’s. Bands Ottoman Turks and The 40 Acre Mule will be performing. Raffle drawings will also be done at the party.

Admission to the party costs $30 ahead of time and $40 at the door. Two drink tickets are included in the ticket price.

Mockingbird Elementary carnivalĀ 

Mockingbird Elementary’s fall carnival is one of its largest fundraisers.

This year, there are rides, games, booths and food trucks.

Wristbands cost $25 at the carnival and can be used for unlimited games, booths and rides. Tickets are sold in packs of 10 for $10, and they can be used for food, drinks and market items, as well as games and rides.

This event is scheduled for 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 22 at Mockingbird Elementary School.

White Rock Dog Rescue’s “Dog Walk of the Dead”Ā 

White Rock Dog Rescue is holding a charity and adoption event at Oak Highlands Brewery called “Dog Walk of the Dead.”

A few of the activities include doggy yoga, dog agility activities, food trucks, live music, silent action and raffles. Pets will be available for adoption, too.

It is scheduled for 2-9 p.m. Oct. 22.

Fall festival at Harry Stone Recreation CenterĀ 

The City of Dallas is hosting a fall festival at Harry Stone Recreation Center.

There will be a scare room, carnival games, trunk-or-treat, door prizes, music and face painting.

The event is scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 27.

House of Spirits: A Haunted Cocktail SoirƩe

The House of Spirits is an interactive haunted house and cocktail party. Guests explore and try to unravel the mystery of the “Midnight Man,” a malicious spirit residing in the house.

As cocktails are served throughout the house, guests must be at least 21 years old. The experience takes place at the Alexander Mansion on Ross Avenue, and it will run from Oct. 27-31. Reserve tickets online here.

Lowest Greenville fall festivalĀ 

Neighbors of all ages are invited to Lowest Greenville Collective’s annual fall festival on Oct. 29.

Trick-or-treating runs 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Kids can stop into businesses along Greenville Avenue (the ones with a balloon out front) to grab some candy. There will also be a face-painter.

For adults, there are drink specials at Greenville Avenue Pizza Co., Joy Macarons, Son of a Butcher, Bullzerk, Meyboom Brasserie, Swizzle, HG Sply Co., Standard Service, Leela’s, Alamo Club, Libertine and Truck Yard.

A commemorative glass should be purchased between 11 a.m.-2 p.m. outside Greenville Avenue Pizza Co. to access food and drink specials.

Lochwood Branch Library HalloweenĀ Ā 

The Lochwood Branch Library is hosting a festival to celebrate Halloween.

Throughout the day, there will be stories, costume contests, crafts, a scavenger hunt and a movie.

The bash is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 29.

Diagon Alley experience and book drive

The Schaub family, known in East Dallas for their elaborate Harry Potter-themed decorations, is again hosting the Diagon Alley experience and book drive.

Their yard will feature more than 20 storefronts plus Hogwarts and other props they have built.

Anyone can come, but visitors are asked to bring a new or gently used book to donate to Children’s Health and the Dallas Public Library; books can be dropped off at the Flourish & Botts bookstore in Diagon Alley, or there will be a QR code to purchase from a wishlist.

Stop by 6:30-9:30 p.m. Oct. 29-31 at their house, located near Beacon and Bryan.

Mungerfest at Garrett ParkĀ 

Munger Church of Christ is celebrating its 12th anniversary with a special service at 10 a.m. Oct. 30, followed by Mungerfest at 11 a.m. at Garrett Park.

The event will include food trucks and trunk-or-treat for the kids.

Candy buy-back at Lakewood OrthodonticsĀ 

After Halloween, patients and neighborhood kids 14 years and younger are invited to bring their candy to Lakewood Orthodontics and trade it in for money.

The office will pay $3 for every pound of wrapped, store-bought candy. And a matching donation will be made to the school with the most participants.

Candy can be brought in 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 1-3 and 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 4 at Lakewood Orthodontics, 1809 Skillman St.
