Two former Bryan Adams High School student-athletes will be inducted into the Dallas ISD Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the 2019 class.

Gary Blair was a standout all-city baseball player at Bryan Adams. Blair now serves as head coach for the women’s basketball team at Texas A&M University, where he led the Aggies to the 2011 NCAA Championship. Since his appointment in 2003, he has transformed the program into a national powerhouse, which holds the school record for most wins in A&M history.

Doug English was a two-sport letterman in football and track and field at Bryan Adams. In 1975, English was drafted by the Detroit Lions, where he played for 10 years and accumulated 59 quarterback sacks. 

Other inductees include Michael Ensley, girls basketball coach at Lincoln High School; Rudolpho Jaramillo, a Sunset High School graduate and Major League Baseball hitting coach; Harvey Martin, a former Dallas Cowboy from South Oak Cliff; Roy “Robot” Martin, a Franklin D. Roosevelt sprinter who earned a spot on the USA Track & Field team at the 1988 Olympics; J.D. Mayo, head boys basketball coach at Skyline; Barbara Brown-McCoy, the first female athletic director at Dallas ISD; and John Pritchett, a Dallas ISD athletics announcer for more than 50 years.

Inductees, often nominated by their peers and former athletes, are chosen based on their accomplishments, impact on Dallas athletics and career contributions. The 2019 class will be inducted April 26 at the Dallas ISD Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel.
