A couple incidents occurred Tuesday at Willis Winters ParkĀ and Woodrow Wilson High School.

Dallas Police were responding to a disturbance call around 3:06 p.m. at the 100 block of S. Glasgow Drive, DPD said in an email to The Advocate. Officers saw a group of people fighting in the park, which is right next to Woodrow. And when the officers came closer, “the group stopped fighting and dispersed.” During their investigation, officers found and took two weapons.

Here is the exact statement from the Dallas Police Department:

“On February 1, 2022, approximately 3:06 p.m., Dallas officers responded to a disturbance call in the 100 block of S. Glasgow Drive. Upon their arrival, officers observed a group of individuals fighting in the park. The group stopped fighting and dispersed as officers made their arrival on scene. During the course of the investigation, officers found and retrieved two weapons which were placed in the Baylor Street Property Room. This incident is documented on case number 019739-2022.”

A spokesperson for Dallas ISD confirmed that a student was arrested that afternoon, but the arrest was not related to any fight or the seizure of the weapons.

DISD also told us that district students were not involved in any fight.
