Owners Mike Schoder and Julia Garton have used the shutdown during the coronavirus pandemic to complete major renovations of the beloved theater.

They installed a much-needed new roof and are finishing a paint job that will restore the theater to its original 1946 color scheme.

“This project has been two years in the making, and we are thankful to have used this downtime as constructively as possible,” Schoder said in an email.

One way to support the Granada Theater while waiting for concerts to return is to support Sundown at Granada — an eatery, beer garden and live music venue located next door.

Sundown is open for dine-in seating on the patio, as well as curbside pickup. The patio is the perfect place for a private social distancing event, such as a birthday party, corporate happy hour, bridal shower or anniversary party.

Neighbors can also check out free movies on the rooftop every Wednesday and Thursday through July 9.
