Good Local Markets is kicking off its 2016 season this weekend, on March 12. Although last year the market alternated between the parking lot at The Green Spot and the parking lot at Lakeside Baptist Church, this year Good Local Markets will only be held in the parking lot at Lakeside Baptist Church.

“We will miss our friends at The Green Spot,” says Sarah Perry, the director of Good Local Markets, “but we are very excited to be at Lakeside Baptist Church every Saturday with more room for vendors and shoppers.”

Then a couple weeks later Vickery Meadow Market will open on April 3. The market will continue to be held at Half Price Books. This year the market is on the east side of the store, just outside the Black Forest Cafe, which lends “additional visibility,” Brooks says. “It also allows for easier access via Shady Brook Drive or from the front entrance.”

Good Local Market at Lakeside Baptist Church, at 9150 Garland Road, is held every Saturday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.  Vickery Meadow Market is held every Sunday beginning April 3 from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. at Half Price Books, at 5803 E. Northwest Highway.

Good Local Markets features more than 100 vendors throughout the year, including popular growers, ranchers and artisans. It’s a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that offers the Lone Star food stamp program, Love Your Farmer volunteer days, educational programs and workshops.
