Masks have already started being distributed to CVS, Walgreens, Kroger and other stores in some parts of the country. The 400 million masks are coming from the strategic national stockpile. Every person is eligible to pick up three of these masks.

But they’re not in East Dallas — at least, not yet.

As of publication time Jan. 28, we had visited or called several pharmacy locations in our neighborhood. None of them had any masks available.

CVS recommends calling specific stores before visiting to check whether the masks are available. Walgreens is posting signs on its main entrances telling neighbors whether masks are available.

According to its website, Walgreens expects all participating locations to have masks in stock by mid-February. And the company will also be updating its online store locator.

Below are some pharmacy locations in our neighborhood. We’ll update this list as new information comes in:

  • CVS at Mockingbird and Skillman (214-887-6955): Masks not available yet
  • CVS at Greenville and Ross (214-823-9995): Masks not available yet
  • Walgreens at Mockingbird and Matilda: Masks not available yet
  • Walgreens at E. Northwest Highway and Abrams: Masks not available yet

Dallas ISD is still requiring face masks on campuses, and Dallas County’s risk level remains at the highest level, though case numbers have peaked.
