Humble Pies will be at 9014 Garland Road across the street from Hypnotic Donuts, continuing the artisan dessert trend that spreads East from Lower Greenville, an area which boasts a chocolatier, macaron purveyor, ice cream shop, authentic Italian gelato and more.

CultureMap reports that Sean Jett, an East Dallas native and cooking instructor, will run Humble Pies. He will focus on authentic crusts and start with seven or eight daily pie options using in-season ingredients. He will also serve classic pies such as key-lime, pecan and coconut cream.

Snowbaby, a Taiwanese shaved ice shop in Lakewood Shopping Center next to Sprint on Gaston, will have its grand opening this Saturday at 1 p.m. The shaved ice is lighter and more velvety than your average snow cone. Lakewood neighbor Chrissy Kuo works hard to make sure the ingredients are as healthy as possible. Snowbaby will partner with local businesses White Rock Coffee and Unrefined Bakery for flavor and toppings. The grand opening will include face painters and balloons for the kids.

For those avoiding the sweets this spring, On Rotation is celebrating its third birthday this Saturday from noon to midnight. The small brewery and taproom next to Cane Rosso on Gaston will release more than 10 new beers as well as some small batches of rare brews. Street tacos from LUCK and soda from Oak Cliff Beverage Works will be on hand. The event is free, but you can RSVP here.
