According to a sign on its door, The Alligator Cafe has been seized by the State of Texas for not paying its taxes. The former owner of the Casa Linda Cajun food restaurant, Ivan Pugh, made a long Facebook post where he wrote, “So glad that this crook [current owner] was shut down.” Giving hope to Alligator Cafe fans everywhere, he added, “Maybe one day I will resurrect it from the dust.”

A new coffee shop is coming to the corner of Fitzhugh and Bennett late in the year. LDU Coffee is the concept of two Australian brothers, Adam and Mark Lowes. The shop will be located on the ground floor of B&F Flats, with residential space above. The coffee will lean on their Australian style, which has fewer flavors and less milk than your average pumpkin spice latte.

Mai’s Vietnamese on Bryan has been in business for 35 years, and after a short break for remodeling, it is back in action. The remodel is a good reflection of the neighborhood in general, which is transitioning from older single-family homes to newer town homes and apartments with increased density. The new space is smaller but will include a patio in the future.
