St. James Episcopal Church, the one with the beautiful pumpkin patch on McCree at Audelia, will hold a vigil tonight beginning at 6:30 p.m. (outside, but indoors if rain hits) to pray for victims of recent violence, their families and the surrounding East Dallas and Northeast Dallas communities.

“We invite you to come together with us as we lift up in prayer the victims, their families, and one another in our grief,” organizers note. “We will pray for peace, hope, and healing in our community. We welcome all members of our East Dallas community to join us as we blanket our neighborhood in prayer. We would like to hold a candlelight service; however, our Pumpkin Patch is full of hay and extremely dry. For the safety of all, please bring a flashlight, battery-operated candle, or other non-flame light source.”

Note that the pumpkin patch will close early for the event.

Last week four murderous acts — the deaths of Zoe Hastings, David Stevens and Felicia Jones and Tracy Evans — shook the Lake Highlands and East Dallas areas.
