COVID be hanged, Lake Highlands’ fun spot Curious Garden celebrates its fifth anniversary this month. Brainchild of mother-son duo Terry and Jason Cohen, also proprietors of Lakewood’s Curiosities, Curious Garden incorporates elements of White Rock Lake and the Arboretum, and it features finds from local artists. Traditional antiques can be found among outdoor cement statues, antique signs and outdoor furniture.
The real evolution of Curious Garden has been its foray into rocks and minerals, skulls, fossils, taxidermy, shells and varied books, making it an explorer’s paradise.
“It’s been fun to see Garland Road’s progress over time, new businesses coming in and being a part of it. Our shop has morphed over the years and now has a natural history vibe,” owner Jason Cohen says. “The neighborhood has embraced us and what we are doing; that’s made it extra fun.”
