I’m at my parents’ house Sunday afternoon before the Cowboys game and we’re talking politics —I use the term “talking” loosely. Actually, a brawl was just about to break out, so we shifted conversation to grocery store talk. It started when my brother mentioned Albertsons was offering 10 percent off purchases to anyone wearing Cowboys garb—I’m pretty sure this is true every game day throughout the season, by the way.
My sister chimed in about bad service and mis-marked items at "her" Albertsons at Mockingbird near Abrams, saying she drives to the Northwest Highway-Ferndale location and loves it.
I agreed with her 100 percent. I’ve had at least two bad experiences involving products advertised as “two for one” but not ringing up as such at the Mockingbird store (then having to wait around and go to customer service, etc.). But I am pretty faithful to the Albertsons on Ferndale-Northwest. It’s never too crowded, there are actual human beings available to check me out, and I’ve always experienced good customer service.
I like the Kroger on Northwest Highway-Plano, but I loathe the "Kroger Card". A few weeks ago I checked out only to realize the clerk hadn’t asked me for my card (and I’d forgotten about it) thus I was charged about six bucks more than I should have been. I was told to take my receipt to customer service for a refund.
Of course there’s Whole Foods (which we are obviously proudly obsessed with on this blog so I need not expound on that), but the quality produce at Fiesta in Old East Dallas is right up there.
