If you haven’t had a chance to make it out to Fair Park for Summer Adventures, the new amusement park, you better do it soon because it’s ending on Sun., Aug. 18. Plus tickets are half. Summer Adventures is open daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Also, your ticket gives you access to rides, the Texas Discovery Gardens butterfly exhibit, live entertainment, and the Children’s Aquarium. The clock is ticking for catching rays at the pool. The pool at Tietze Park is only open for a couple more weeks. It’s open Thursday through Monday 1-8 p.m. Tietze Park is located at 2700 Skillman. Call 214.670.1380 with any questions. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children 11 and under
There’s a couple cool things going on at the Bath House Cultural Center right now. The show “Hate Mail” is ending on Saturday, Aug. 17. Tickets are $20 for that. And while you’re there, you can walk through the “Nature in my Art: Recent Artwork by Pavlina Panova” exhibition. The exhibition, which consists of intricate pieces created from elements of nature, such as leaves, bark and wood shavings, is on display through Sept. 29. This Saturday, Aug. 17, The Dallas Bar Association is hosting Law Jam 4, a unique musical event to promote awareness of, participation in and fundraising for the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP), enhancing pro bono legal services to the poor. The bands are made up of lawyers and the following six bands will perform: Black Dirt Tango, Blue Collar Crime, Big Wheel, The Catdaddies, Noah Snark and Random Blue. The event is at the Granada Theater in Dallas.
And finally, this isn’t exactly for this weekend, but it’s close. On Monday, Aug. 19, Greenville Avenue Pizza Company (GAPCo) will host their 1st annual “Slices for Supplies” event. Customers that bring one school supply item (glue, a package of markers, pencils, printer paper, etc.) will receive one free slice of cheese pizza with one additional topping. The school supplies collected will go directly to the teachers at DISD school, Ignacio Zaragoza Elementary.
