  • Vote for John Ellis and Laura Preston for National Geographic Traveler of the Year. Preston is a 2006 Woodrow Wilson High School grad who went on to NYU. Click HERE to vote. You may vote once daily.
  • Lakewood-East Dallas Bubblelife shared Scenes from Woodrow’s mini-open house: In September, Woodrow Wilson High School held its annual “Mini-School” open house. Parents followed the bell schedule of their students, progressing from classroom to classroom and teacher to teacher as their students do each day. Check out the slideshow HERE.
  • A week ago, a neighbor happened upon a disturbing scene on Friday morning, Sept. 27. On Sperry, between Cornelia and Merrilee, adjacent to the construction site at 6906 Merrilee, a woman found a cat head in the middle of the road. She said it “clearly looked like someone had placed the head there” as opposed to an animal mauling because it was “posed.” The Lakewood Northeast Estates Community Association sent out a warning on Monday, and the DMN mentioned the incident on their scoop blog.
  • We wrote about the recent spike of gun-related crimes in Lakewood Hills Neighborhood that caused Dallas PD to up their patrols in the area. Pryce Tucker, the chair of the Lakewood Hills Crime Watch, also wrote a post about it, so if you’re interested in more information about the recent gun-related crimes, check it out.
  • Heads up: The 4th Annual Healing Hand Ministries Golf Tournament is almost here, so you need to sign up now while there’s still spots available. This year the event will be at the Lakewood Country Club. It is a four man Scramble with a Shotgun Start at 12 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28.
