To wrap up the week, here’s a look back at some recent news nuggets from around the web:
- Just a couple weeks ago, Pat Snuffer sold Snuffer’s Restaurant Inc. to Firebird Restaurant Group and handed over the keys to six of his restaurants (read more), although Snuffer kept possession of the location on Greenville. Snuffer was planning to open Pat’s Burger & Cheddar Fries on Greenville instead, and hoped to open in the next week or two. However, looks like that won’t be happening — at the very least, not for a while. Firebird filed a lawsuit in Dallas County District Court, saying Snuffer is doing “a last-minute, desperate, and unlawful conspiracy.” The Dallas Morning News broke the news, and says Judge Martin Lowy signed a temporary restraining order against Snuffer, so he won’t be able to open until this is settled. Lowy has also scheduled a hearing on Dec. 19. Read more.
- Woodrow Wilson High School was mentioned as a part of a Bloomberg news write-up about recent patent news because of the debacle over the wildcat logo.
- On the Lakewood, Dallas Facebook Page neighbor Ginny Booth, who is a volunteer with Duck Team 6 Street Dog Rescue, says they are looking for individuals or groups who need community service hours to help bag dog food for distribution to homeless and low-income communities. They supply all the needed materials. Good for ages 10+. If you want more information, comment on the Facebook thread, or email her at ginny@duckteam6.org.
