  • Blondes vs. Brunettes, a philanthropic flag football organization, partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Dallas for their sixth annual powder-puff football game to raise awareness and money to find a cure for Alzheimer’s. Culture Map wrote about the Blondes’ 18-15 win, and included a photo slideshow. Lakewood’s own Blonde Jenn Thompson and Brunette Tori See played in the games.
  • J. L. Long Middle School is searching for substitute teachers. Anyone interested should contact principal Danielle Petters at DPetters@dallasisd.org.
  • Friday through Sunday, there are sales at BookEnds in the Central Library. Browse through a large selection of used books, movies, audio books, music CDs and more. Prices are 50¢ for any individual items, or fill up a standard-size box for $6. Store operating hours are Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. BookEnds is located on the first floor of the Central Library 1515 Young.
