Festivals can be about more than deep-fried-everything. If you have any doubts, Chipotle aims to prove it to you with their Cultivate Festival that’s coming up in a couple weeks, on Oct 18.

This festival is about celebrating food that is “responsibly raised, skillfully prepared, and delightfully enjoyed.”

The event actually takes place in Irving, so it’s a bit of a drive, but there are several East Dallas vendors involved in the line-up, including Lakewood Brewing Co., which created a brand new Cultivate brew just for this event. Times Ten Cellars and Deep Ellum Brewing Co. will also be there.

Aside from beer and live music, you can “learn your way to a free burrito” by participating in four of the five Chipotle activities: watching a short film about the “journey towards better food,” visiting the Factory Vs. Farm exhibit or the Fresh vs. Processed exhibit, learning about the GMO Experience, and/or watching how Chipotles guacamole is made from scratch.

There will be an Artisan’s Hall, where you can enjoy treats by vendors like East Dallas-based Pop Star Handcrafted Popsicles and the Texas Honeybee Guild.

The event is Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. To learn more, go to the website.
