East Dallas is known for its creative spirit and embrace of the strange, and it seems a local artist has taken to beautifying the remnants of a previous era. The Exxon station at Skillman and Live Oak has an old payphone booth now adorned with flowers.

The front of the booth has been covered with plywood, with fake roses nailed into it, transforming a bygone communication device into a mysterious piece of local art. The employees at the station didn’t know anything about who did it, saying it just showed up one day.

Perhaps the artist is “veggy” which it reads below the roses. It can’t be confirmed whether or not Banksy (the famously anonymous street artist) is actually at work in our neighborhood, so be on the look out for more of these artistic alterations.
