This expansion of the DroneUp delivery network is part of the retailer’s goal to be able to deliver more than 1 million packages by drone each year, according to a company blog post.

Customers can order from thousands of items, such as diapers and hot dog buns, for delivery in as little as half an hour. There’s a delivery fee of $3.99, and orders have to weigh less than 10 pounds. Delivery by drone is available 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

However, deliveries can only be made to addresses within a mile of the store, located at 2275 Gus Thomasson Road.

Stores such as the Casa View location will have a DroneUp delivery hub where pilots operating within FAA guidelines will manage flight operations for deliveries.

Drone delivery is also now available from a store on S. Buckner Boulevard in Dallas, as well as in other North Texas cities, including Garland, Murphy, Plano, Richardson, Mesquite, Rowlett and The Colony.

The Advocate would like to know how these deliveries go. If you live in Casa View and happen to try out a drone delivery, please let us know. Email Renee at rumsted@advocatemag.com.Â
