DPD expands ‘Starlight Program’ to new locations in the neighborhood

The Dallas Police Department is expanding the Starlight Program to four new locations in Lakewood and Lake Highlands.

Last year, DPD began the Starlight Program, an initiative that targets high-crime gas stations, retail outlets and convenience stores in Dallas.

High-tech cameras are placed at the businesses, and police officers are able to see in real time what’s happening. Whenever a crime is occurring, they can immediately dispatch a patrol unit to the scene.

The first three locations were successful, so DPD expanded to these new locations:

• Chevron Gas Station, 2944 N. Buckner Blvd.
• American Dollar Plus Store, 9770 Forest Lane
• EZ Trip Food Store, 9798 Forest Lane
• Chevron Gas Station, 9791 Forest Lane
