Dallas Police are investigating a murder after a Sunday night shooting left one dead and one wounded in East Dallas.

According to Police, officers responded to a shooting call in the 7800 block of Ferguson Road at about 6:20 p.m. on March 2. In their initial investigation, officers determined that  39-year-old Arvey Cruz Ortega and another individual had been shot at the scene. The other victim was treated and released, but Ortega died at the scene, DPD says.

Police say 22-year-old suspect Jonatan Espinoza assaulted four officers at the scene and was arrested. Espinoza is currently being held in the West Tower of the Lew Sterrett Justice Center, jail records show. He is charged with one count of murder and four counts of assault of a police officer.
