With the school year well underway, I want to take a moment to celebrate those who are setting the strong foundation we are building together in District 3 schools: Principals.
October is National Principals Month, and I can’t think of a better time to honor those who set the tone for the campuses. They are problem-solvers, encouragers, and visionaries who work tirelessly to ensure students and teachers have the support they need to thrive. The progress and pride we see in our schools begins with them.
Whether it’s greeting families at drop-off, supporting a new teacher, creating innovative programs to engage students, or meeting with families, our principals leave a lasting mark on every student’s journey. I encourage you to reach out to your school’s principal this month and share a note of thanks for the countless ways they impact our community.
Dallas ISD is a district of opportunities, and we have one exciting event coming up that highlights how many are available for students: Discover Dallas ISD. This is the perfect chance for families to explore the wide range of specialty programs our district offers —from dual language and STEM to fine arts and leadership academies.
At Bryan Adams High School Leadership Academy, we offer several National Academy Foundation pathways in addition to a leadership academy and the criminal justice and education pathways in P-TECH. At Emmett J. Conrad High School, we have the Conrad Global H-Tech that focuses on allied health, game design, network administration and support, and software programming. And the elementary and middle schools also offer a variety of programs that prepare students for the future.
These and other choices will be showcased at Discover Dallas ISD, making it easy for families to see all the possibilities in one place. If you know a family searching for the right fit school, please let them know to join us at Discover from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, in the Automobile Building at Fair Park. When thinking about principals who lead the way and events like Discover that open opportunities, I am reminded that the work we do today will shape tomorrow. In District 3, I see that future growing brighter every year.
