A cool United to Learn project is helping make distance learning less distant during shelter-in-place orders because of the coronavirus. Cate Goglia, a Hockaday student working toward her Girl Scout Gold Award, started the video series that has more than 100 submissions from Dallas high school students. The videos on reading, sports, arts and science serve as a resource for 15,800 Dallas ISD elementary students.

Here are a few submissions from East Dallas students:

  • Abrea L. teaches how to make an origami dog.
  • Isabella Z. is the creator of a how-to dance video.

If you’re a high school student who needs service hours and wants to participate, here’s how to submit a video. Categories include:

  • United to Learn Reads: reading children’s books
  • United to Learn Sports: inspiring athletic skills
  • United to Learn Arts: sharing music and arts skills
  • United to Learn Science: demonstrating fun science experiments
