Hollywood Heights neighbor Will Evans, who founded the nonprofit publishing house Deep Vellum Publishing in 2013, has been talking about opening a bookstore in Deep Ellum since at least January.
Now the bookstore, which is located at 3000 Commerce, has an opening date of Dec. 9 starting with a launch party that night at 6 p.m.
Deep Vellum Publishing focuses on publishing books by foreign authors.
“I found out there’s all of this great stuff being written in every language of the world — award-winning books, best-sellers — and very little of it gets translated and published in English,” Evans explains.
The new bookstore will also focus on selling books by foreign authors. It will be similar to The Wild Detectives in Oak Cliff, although it will focus more on selling books than food and drink.
